A photo of "Mom"

Image
This is an 8x10 canvas collage using a copy of a vintage photo of my mother. I just love her little hair cut and the expression she has on her face. This was the first time I've ever tried polymer clay on canvas. I stamped into the clay then used walnut ink to stain. I'm really happy with the results and look forward to trying that again soon. Other collage items are just decorative papers. I have lots of memories of my mom at her sewing machine, so I also used some old pattern pieces. It's still too hot here for me to think about fall, so I thought I'd share some photographs I took this last spring. I never get tired of taking photographs especially in the garden. Happy Monday!

No "fake" sky here

Not your typical blue Las Vegas sky. Unfortunately, these clouds didn't bring the much needed rain I was hoping for but gave us some interesting, cooler weather for a day or two. It was a nice change anyway, it'll be back to sunny and blue tomorrow . Have a great week!

Feeling Nostalgic in Boulder City

I didn't need any help with the fountain this time. I still love to visit Boulder City. It's a perfect place to spend a beautiful day with a friend walking around rummaging through all the antique shops. Then when you get tired you can walk over to the Wine bar & bistro for a glass of vino on the patio, or over at the Boulder Dam Brewery, you can get yourself a Dam Beer and some Dam food! If ne

Enjoying the simple things

The past couple of days I've had some extra time to just relax and unwind. Sometimes the best remedy for stress is to surround yourself with the things that make you happy. I find that a lot of those things are right here at home. Only 1 more day until the weekend!

A short trip to Los Angeles, California for business and a little fun. A visit to an art gallery for a viewing of photographs taken by David Lynch with music by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse...weird. Off to Santa Monica and Malibu for some "ocean time" and a little shopping. Fun to see some of the LA weirdness again. A fun British Pub in Santa Monica Grauman's Chinese Theatre Some interesting store fronts
